Corvus Corax 14"x20" Gouache and Ink
Corvus Corax 14"x20" Gouache and Ink
Corvus Corax {Latin for Common Raven} Was made with Washes of black ink and then layers of complex colors of Gouache. I wanted to play with a ‘Raven in a World of Color’ as many of the Raven art I see depicts the bird inaccurately at night time. The Corvus Corax is striking as it naturally calls upon us- in broad daylight. Where I grew up however- I enjoyed seeing them in the Morning Fog, hearing their gravely voice crackle out across the dews of morning. It is my most favorite Bird and and i sought to capture the magic that never ceases to amaze me when one comes ‘woosh-wooshing by’.
This painting was the central muse for THE SHORT FILM I made wherein I read Poe’s “The Raven”.
And if you would like to know more of the very personal experiences that inspired this piece- you can see it this blog/ story I wrote HERE.
