This seductive specimen {or speciwomen?} has the dual distinction of being my first in a tradion of Deep Sea Angler Fish Mermaids {She was followed years later by '“ Dark Mercy” and “A Loving Lantern”}. She was in the first school of Mermaids in Mermay 2018 and is the ONLY time {thus far} wherein I experimented with adding salt to watercolor. You can see this in the dream-like ‘splatter’ effect in the closeups. I wanted to make a little piece ‘about the terrifying lure of the Oceans dark Depths’. It is a fear I have but I am always attracted to the vast and unknown dark beauty of it. Whilst physically I have no desire to explore it my thoughts always traveling there. And that is the sort of spell that this little Deep Sea dweller casts…
