Is there anything like the quiet and patient companionship when the end comes? She was discovered in the dark depths of his fate. Though this was a place few would ever hope to find themselves. You cannot deny that hers was the ultimate companionship in the ghostly eternity inwhich he found himself…
Here is the ORIGINAL painting of “A LOVING LANTERN”.
Whilst encountering many a Mermaid in that alluring month of Mermay I always make it a point to visit the deep sea Angler fish Mermaids. I was looking for something particularly striking and transportive. I saw the freedom of the Ocean depths and the tranquility of its darkness. I saw something to sweep you off to the calm waters of the deep. Nothing to hear but the gurgles of the waters in your ear. I wonder now- what will conjure up for you as you look upon her? Is it humility? Beauty? Fear? Attraction? Calm? Weightlessness?
“She illuminates his loneliness and feels less of her own. The delicious warmth of her light has examined every ridge and crevasse of that sad old skull dipping down with a forlorn allure. It is as if his eyes stretched wide to listen to her intently or perhaps incredulous at her latest deep sea hunting tale. She feels seen by the Mariner with missing eyes. The fearsome hunter of the deep swims around him ever so gently- careful not to upset his peacefully floating bones.“ -S.S.Landerman excerpt from the story, A Loving Lantern’
