"Faerie Funeral" Ink and Coffee 9"x12"
Oh this was a most melancholic sight a truly rare event. I was treading lightly as it was in the redwood forests around me. The forest floors are a dark place with dampened leaves- the colors of black and rust. From this fresh ground springs the ferns and wild mushrooms and it is whispered that- should you see a particular cluster of these beings- odds are- you found the tranquil site for a Fairy Funeral. It was attended by all the tiny ones who knew her and they speak of her exploits, her best pranks, the giants and giant children she may have helped.
Now something you should know about the fairy folk- they have no afterlife. Truly the end of the road whence one has finished life. They wont fo to the fairy realm. Nothing. So it is a true death.
Be greatful for life- it is a beautiful thing wherein a fairy exists. She lives her one life as much as she can- when a fairy perishes- there is no reincarnation. When she lives- she lives. Whence she is gone- she is that. So go outside, breathe, and smile at her memory…
This piece was done using my trusty ‘dipping’ fountain pen and some light touches of coffee. It was a bit of planning with pencil first.
Appreciate this life. Theirs and yours…
