Corvus Corax is the Latin for Common Raven. I love the name as it seems like the kind of word the Bird would say if it spoke. There is a magic to the Raven which I feel no other bird {not even its nearly identical Cousin, the Crow} possesses. There is nothing ‘Common’ about this bird. If you have sat on a cloudy day and heard the ‘woosh-wooshing’ of those dark wings and looked up just in time to see the black-feathered beast flying above then you know of the enchanting power this Creature possesses. I painted this piece for artistic and very personal reasons. You can read my blog about it in the ‘Story Time’ section of this site.
